Are you an early bird or night owl exerciser?
Don’t worry! Recent research carried out by The National Sleep Foundation has found that exercising just before going to bed doesn’t have any negative effects on your sleep, and in some cases it can actually lead to a better night sleep.
Separate research by the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention has shown that over 80% of vigorous exercisers reported very or fairly good sleep quality versus only 56% of non-exercisers.
However there are of course people who may not benefit from late night workouts. Timothy Morgenthaler, M.D., writing for MayoClinic.com, explains: “you can determine the time of day that is best for you to work out by rating your quality of sleep. First, work out close to bedtime for two weeks and rate your quality of sleep each night on a scale of 1-10. Then exercise regularly every morning for the next two weeks and rate your quality of sleep the same. Add up the ratings for each week and divide it by the total number of days that were rated to get your average score for sleep quality.”
So take his advice and test yourself to find out whether you’re an early bird or night owl when it comes to exercise.
Then check out our online Tabata classes that are streamed live three times per week. If you’re an early bird exerciser get up and join us for the live class, but if you’re not then just catch up later that evening or the next day as we also ensure that each class is available to view for 48 hours.
So whether you are a night owl, or an early bird, you can go online after work in the evening or when you get up in the morning and get on with your work out. What’s even better, since Tabata is a high intensity interval training method, our classes are only 4 minutes each, so you’ll have plenty of time left to have a bath and relax before heading to bed, or jumping in the shower to get ready for work!
So what are you waiting for? Sign up for our online classes and make sure you never lose out on an exercise regime because of being an early bird, night owl, work, personal commitments, darkness, or travel!
