Exercises to Help Improve Stamina Levels

3864843696_c0d19d6518_nIf you have good stamina then you’ll generally find that you have better energy levels, blood circulating and endurance which will allow you to exercise for longer. Generally speaking practice makes perfect with exercise and the more you do it, the easier you’ll find it. Although any exercise can help with improving stamina, there are also ways that you can actively work towards increasing your stamina and endurance.

The best thing to do is find an exercise that you like and try to incorporate it into your daily routine. By doing this you’re much more likely to keep your new regime going long term. To specifically increase stamina levels to start, try and exercise for at least half an hour a day. Of course, if you’re new to exercise and relatively unfit then simply break this time down into smaller chunks i.e. 3 x 10 minutes or 2 x 15 minutes, just as long as you try to get 30 minutes in each day.

To really improve your stamina then also try to mix up the exercises you do. Not only will this help to keep things interesting but it’s the best way to pump up those stamina levels. Try mixing up HIIT exercises such as Tabata, with running, yoga, weight training, etc. Whatever you do, the main thing is to get your blood pumping to start increasing and helping to maintain stamina.

It’s wise to measure your heart rate at the start of trying to increase your stamina levels. Then measure it again after a few weeks of exercise as outlined above. If your heart rate has improved and you’re finding exercise easier then you should start to increase the intensity and duration of your workout sessions. This will keep increasing stamina until you can run a marathon, or on a smaller scale, feel fitter and stronger.

Remember, it’s important to listen to your body as it will tell you what it needs and whether you are pushing yourself too hard. Ensure you warm up and warm down properly before you work out to avoid doing any lasting damage to your body. Any exercise is better than none at all, so even if you are struggling make sure you stay motivated and keep it up – you’ll soon find your stamina increasing  your workouts getting easier.
